In the latest segment of Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Lil Dicky, aka Dave Burd, Benny Blanco revealed that Burd officiated his wedding to Selena Gomez.
Blanco and Gomez tied the knot on September 27 last year in Santa Barbara, California. The ceremony was intimate, and the couple did not share much publicly after the big day — but now, months later, Blanco opened up during his appearance on the talk show, revealing that Burd officiated the wedding. The stars say the moment marked years of their friendship, and it was chaotic in the best way.
Lil Dicky officiated Benny Blanco & Selena Gomez’s wedding in Santa Barbara
On the show, Lil Dicky, aka Dave Burd, recalled his wedding to Kristin Batalucco as well as Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding with pure joy, calling the celebrations “the best nights of our lives.”
Moreover, he explained that he and Blanco skipped the usual best man setup and did something more personal. When Kimmel asked if they were at each other’s weddings, Burd remarked, “We were heavily involved,” adding, “We didn’t each have a best man, but I officiated his, and he gave the speech from like my male point of view at my wedding, and it was great.”
Blanco did not hold back on how it felt watching his friend lead the ceremony, admitting, “It was incredible. Unbelievable.”
Selena Gomez asked for last-minute changes at her wedding
Even with a close friend in the picture, Gomez and Blanco still had to handle making sure the vows and the officiant's speech did not clash with each other. Blanco shared that Gomez called him before the ceremony with a request. He recalled, “She said, ‘Hey, just make sure Dave doesn’t say anything about this part or this part because it’s part of my speech,’” but the only problem, according to Blanco, was the “whole opening three minutes of his speech.”
Burd told Kimmel, “I wanted to push back, but it was her wedding.” Still, he said it all worked out, adding, “I’m very proud of myself.”
On the other hand, Blanco did not officiate Burd’s wedding, but he did take the mic at the reception for a speech.
