Justin Trudeau’s son Xavier “Xav” Trudeau is watching his dad’s relationship with Katy Perry up close, and he sounds genuinely fine with it.
18-year-old Xav spoke about his dad dating Perry during the April 5 episode of the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast, where he also discussed his own music and what it feels like to grow up with constant attention. And he says Perry shows up for him as someone he can actually talk to about his work.

Speaking about Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry’s relationship on the Can’t Be Censored podcast, Trudeau’s son, Xavier “Xav” Trudeau, said he was happy that his dad was happy. Besides, he spoke about Perry, revealing, “When I’m really happy with a song [I] send it [to her],” and adding, “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
He said that the relationship feels normal to him, even if the internet treats it like a major event. Talking about the Firework hitmaker, Xav said, “She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great,” adding, “I think that my dad’s happy, so that’s important.”
Additionally, Xav addressed the attention that comes with Justin Trudeau dating a global pop star. He called it “noise,” but admitted that he grew up around public scrutiny anyway, so he knows how to deal with it — and watching photos of the couple does not shock him either. Xav treats Trudeau and Perry’s photos as “Just like any other picture of my dad and my mom. Or just my dad.” He said, “My life is just, like, so crazy sometimes,” adding that he sometimes thinks, “What is my life? What the hell?”
But Xav is not completely unaffected by the “noise.” He admitted that trolling comments can still sting, as he confessed, “The hate is just, like, it gets to me sometimes” — still, he tries to see the upside, explaining that engagement can help his videos reach more people.
Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry first sparked romance rumors in July 2025, and were private about it for a while. In October 2025, they drew attention again when photos showed them together on a yacht near Santa Barbara, while an insider told Us Weekly at the time, “She’s very happy.”
