Reynolds spoke with Willie Geist in front of a live crowd at City Winery New York City. Geist asked how Reynolds and Lively have managed as a family during a very public period of headlines, and although the Deadpool actor did not get into details, he said that the experience has changed the way he looks at his wife and their public life.

Ryan Reynolds says he’s “proud” of Blake Lively amid Justin Baldoni lawsuit

Speaking of the scrutiny surrounding him and Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds told Today anchor Willie Geist, “You know, you really see kind of the illusion behind so much of this stuff, you know, digital life versus real life.” And then, without hesitating, he brought up his wife.

He said, “Really, without getting into it too much, I’ll just say I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife,” adding, “Really, like, people have no idea what’s really going on, you know.” Reynolds added, “I just never in my life been more proud of someone with that level of integrity that brings that with them.” Moreover, he gushed about how Lively “carries” her integrity with her in everything she does.

Reynolds did not try to argue with critics or offer a legal statement. Instead, he talked about pride and character, focusing on the person he knows at home, sounding like a proud husband. Earlier in the same conversation, Ryan Reynolds also underlined, “My wife and kids are everything. I mean, that’s it,” setting his priorities straight at a time when Blake Lively is dealing with a high-profile legal battle with Justin Baldoni and the subsequent spotlight that comes with it.

Whatever the public thinks it knows, Reynolds says he stands with his wife, and he respects how she carries herself.
