As Denis Villeneuve closes out his trilogy, Warner Bros. rolled out a batch of character posters, putting Paul Atreides back before the world and turning a regular Monday into a Dune update for fans who have waited for the next update.

Timothée Chalamet returns for 'Dune’ 3 with cast updates, new character posters & trailer date

Timothée Chalamet revealed that the first trailer for Dune: Part 3 will arrive on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the movie will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026, where it will go up against Avengers: Doomsday.

Villeneuve is building this film from Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah. The story picks up after the events of Dune: Part Two, where Chalamet’s character, Paul, takes power on Arrakis and sets a brutal new future in motion — a turn that also leaves major questions hanging for Zendaya’s character, Chani.

As far as the cast goes, the franchise is growing. Deadline reports that Robert Pattinson has confirmed he joined the film, and he will play the role of the villain Scytale. Moreover, the new posters also point to Isaach de Bankolé as Farok.

Additionally, Dune fans can expect bigger moments for characters who only flashed across the screen last time. In, 2023, Villeneuve told K-Culture NOW, “There’s a dream of making a third movie,” adding, “It would make absolute sense to me.” Besides, composer Hans Zimmer hinted he already knew where the story headed, telling Variety that Villeneuve dropped “‘Dune Messiah’ on my desk” while they worked on the second film.

If the first look and posters of Dune: Part 3 tell us anything, it’s that Denis Villeneuve and Timothée Chalamet plan to finish the job, and they want the world watching when the trailer drops.
