New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani dropped the biggest clue yet on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s much-anticipated wedding.
While discussing security plans for the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Monday, the mayor slipped a huge detail into his list of upcoming events — and no, he says he is not attending the ceremony.
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani casually name-drops Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding
Standing at a press conference podium, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani ran through the massive happenings the NYPD is preparing for, including Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. Without missing a beat, he told reporters, “We know it coincides with the Knicks’ [NBA] Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we are so excited to welcome the world here.”
That offhand comment aligns with what insiders have been whispering for weeks. Page Six and other outlets reported that the couple plans to take over Madison Square Garden over the July 3–5 weekend, although neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed the date. Still, the mayor’s words are the closest thing to a public nod yet.
When journalists immediately pressed him on whether he scored an invitation, Mamdani laughed, confirming he was not invited and would not be going. However, he did add, “I wish them a lovely wedding. I’ll listen to Only the Young at home on my own,” and the deep cut reference to Swift’s 2020 political anthem went viral, with fans calling it the perfect reply.
Even before Zohran Mamdani said anything, fans and tabloids have been painting a picture of a fortress-like celebration for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. The couple reportedly paid $3 million to rent the windowless arena, while guest lists seemingly exceeded 1,100 people, and every invitation came with a strict NDA. The pair got engaged last August and have spent the past few weeks on low-key New York date nights, including a Broadway outing to see Oh, Mary! over the weekend.
