Meghan Markle ‘Fuming’ Over Prince Harry’s NBA Seat Snub — Report

Prince Harry’s solo trip to Game 5 of the NBA Finals in San Antonio got him a front-row view of basketball history — just not the kind of front row that Meghan Markle reportedly values. Harry watched the New York Knicks clinch their first championship in 53 years live. However, the Duchess of Sussex was allegedly paying attention to where her husband sat, and sources claim that she did not like what she saw.

Meghan Markle views Prince Harry's NBA seating 'as a message,' claims source

In his Naughty But Nice on Substack, Rob Shuter reported that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver personally invited Prince Harry to the title-deciding matchup — but it allegedly left a bitter taste in Meghan Markle’s mouth.

The Duke of Sussex was in Texas primarily to support veterans competing in the Department of Defense Warrior Games. He spent the evening seated next to Silver and U.S. Army veteran JP Lane, a Purple Heart recipient who will compete in the upcoming Invictus Games. But Harry’s placement — eight rows back from the court — reportedly turned the attendance into a branding debate back home in Montecito, especially as Hollywood stars Timothée Chalamet and Ben Stiller occupied coveted courtside seats.

A source told Shuter, “Meghan notices everything when it comes to image.” Moreover, they claimed, “To her, seating is status,” adding, “It’s not just about watching a game — it’s about who sees you watching the game.” The insider also maintained that Markle believes Harry remains one of the most recognizable men on the planet, telling Shuter, “When he’s sitting behind celebrities instead of beside them, she sees it as a message.”

Harry, by all accounts, could not have cared less. A friend told the publication, “Harry loved the game and barely gave the seating a second thought,” claiming that the couple saw the outing in separate ways. In that, while all the Duke cared for was the basketball game, Markle bothered more about the “brand.”

Besides, things got messier when Prince Harry’s allegedly awkward handshake with director Spike Lee went viral at the NBA event, igniting chatter on social media. Yet another source emphasized, “Image is everything to Meghan. She believes every appearance sends a message. In her world, where you sit matters almost as much as who’s playing.”
