For the first time since they were toddlers and a baby, King Charles will wrap his arms around his grandchildren — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. A source describes an “agreement” that is giving way to a reunion during the Sussexes’ UK visit next month. Now, insiders say that the King is overjoyed. King Charles reportedly overjoyed as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accept a royal residence for the July trip, says source
GB News reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will land in Britain between July 6 and 10 with their kids and King Charles’ grandchildren, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet. The trip is built around Invictus Games engagements in Birmingham and London, and suddenly carries far deeper family weight. The Sun reported that the King has made sure he will spend proper time with his youngest son’s children, a meeting that has not happened since the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Archie reportedly has no memory of his grandfather, and Lilibet has met him just once.
Time and again, Harry has cited security fears as the barrier to bringing his family home — but an alleged olive branch from the palace has paved the way for a reconciliation. The family will reportedly stay at a royal palace, while a source noted that Buckingham Palace is the “safest building in Britain.” Other options include St James’s Palace, Windsor Castle, or even Frogmore Cottage, the Windsor home the Sussexes lost two years ago.
The Duke of Sussex told the BBC in May 2025 that he wanted to heal the family tensions. That September, Prince Harry sat with King Charles for 45 minutes at Clarence House, giving him a framed photograph of Archie and Lilibet — and now, an actual in-person visit with the children promises something those video calls never could.
As for Meghan Markle, she has not set foot on British soil since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022. Hence, whether she will be in the room when the King meets the children remains an open question — something only time can answer.
